- Dipstick Manufacturing: [top]
Liquid Measure Australia produces professional dipsticks. The blank dipstick material used is 20 x 20 x 3 square hollow section, generally black in colour and anodised to a depth of 25 microns. All of our dipsticks have a solid foot inserted and a reference mark to measure wear.
Liquid Measure Australia's dipsticks are environmentally friendly. Unlike many other dipstick manufacturers, Liquid Measure Australia's dipstick foot inserts are always sealed with adhesive and riveted to ensure no encroachment of product into the void of the dipstick. This stops leakage when the dipstick is withdrawn from a tank.
After inputting of field calibration data the dipstick is computer scribed to an accuracy of +/- 0.2 mm. The dipsticks are computer engraved making them very easily readable. Any other client information can be engraved onto the dipstick. I.e. Tank No:, Product stored etc. You can order your dipstick online or print out this page to fax your order.
The graduations of all our dipsticks adhere to the National Standards Commission Document 105 Appendix B "Layout of Graduations."
Methods of Calibration
- Strapping: [top]
Strapping is the physical measurement
of a tank using strapping tapes and other equipment to measure a
vessel and then computer calculation to obtain increments of volume.
- Volumetric
Calibration: [top]
Volumetric Calibration is where a
liquid is metered into a vessel. Volume increments
are related to a distance from a datum point in the tank, commonly
known as a dip-plate.
- Gravimetric
Calibration: [top]
Gravimetric calibration is achieved by using a weighing machine to determine volume via density.
- Optical: [top]
Optical measurement is used in conjunction
with other methods, measuring distances from a datum point to
calculate volume.
Optical measurement allows extra
information to be gathered which the other methods such as "Strapping"
do not. i.e. measurement of "Tilt or Subsidence".
- Hydrostatic
Settlement Survey: [top]
Hydrostatic Settlement Survey is the
measurement of the subsidence of a tank when being hydrostatically
tested (filling with water). LMA can set out and graphically report
settlement and subsidence (API 653).
